House Sparrows Taking Over?

Try a Bottoms Up Finch Feeder

House Sparrows are very prolific parents and by late summer, a large number of sparrows are often dominating feeders of all types, including finch feeders. However, sparrows have difficulty hanging by their feet, while finches, chickadees and pine siskins excel at this feat. That's where feeders requiring birds to feed upside-down have the advantage.

The upside-down feeder that has previously dominated the market worked well, but didn't always last more than a few seasons. Now we have a very high quality feeder we know you and your goldfinches will love. I took one home and was able to capture this short video of a goldfinch giving a demonstration.

The sloped base keeps seed within easy reach of the birds and is held securely in place. The UV stabilized polycarbonate seed tube won't degrade in the sunlight. The metal cap lifts off to allow re-filling and thorough cleaning, but the design of the cap makes it difficult for predators to lift to reach the seed. The metal perches can't be chewed off by squirrels.
